True to You by Becky Wade

I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review as part of the Bethany House Blogger program. This did not influence my rating in any way.

From the back of the book:

After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.

Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.

The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

My thoughts on Becky Wade:

Oh my goodness.....what can I say about Becky Wade?! First of all, she is an AMAZING and very TALENTED writer. She is hilarious and really builds stories around each character. Becky will make you laugh till your sides hurt, make you cry and feel the heartbreak with the characters, make you want to live in the cute towns she has dreamt up. Becky Wade is humble, down to earth and just all around an amazing christian influence. She shares her faith in such a way with the characters and just her sneaky way of putting in the story line.

My thoughts on the book:

I knew from the top of my head who was going to play John Lawson. My sweet, lovable and amazing Richard Armitage from North & South on the BBC or in Robin Hood on the BBC. He is tall, dark and extremely handsome. Then I was thinking about it and I knew who popped into my head to play Nora Bradford....which is the beautiful and talented Melissa Archer from One Life to Live. I knew these people are probably way older than Becky Wade was thinking of but they just fit perfectly in my mind.

This book started out a bit slow for me but now that I am in the thick of it....I love the chemistry between the characters, the amazing history that Becky took time to write out.

Speaking of Genealogy, I found out more about my own family's history and we are related to Paul Revere on my mother's side twice and my dad's side...we are related to the pastor of the pilgrims John Robinson. So I guess you can say that is a big deal.

I also loved reading about Nora's sister Britt. She was the one who caught my attention. I can't wait to read more about her. I also knew who I picked to play Zander from the top of my mind. The actor I can see playing him is Austin Butler.

Like Nora Bradford, I like tea.....history and once in a while finding out more about my family. This is definitely an intriguing book series so far.

I give this book a 5 since that is the highest rating though I feel it deserves more of a 7.
