The Lieutenant's Bargain by Regina Jennings

I recieved this book for free in exchange for my honest review. This does not affect my review in any way.

The back of the book:

Hattie Walker dreams of becoming a painter, while her parents want her to settle down. As a compromise, they give her two months to head to Denver and place her works in an exhibition or give up the dream forever. Her journey is derailed when a gunman attacks her stagecoach, leaving her to be rescued by a group of Arapaho . . . but she's too terrified to recognize them as friendly.

Confirmed bachelor Lieutenant Jack Hennessey has long worked with the tribe and is tasked with trying to convince them that the mission school at Fort Reno can help their children. When a message arrives about a recovered survivor, Jack heads out to take her home--and plead his case once more.

He's stunned to run into Hattie Walker, the girl who shattered his heart--but quickly realizes he has a chance to impress her. When his plan gets tangled through translation, Jack and Hattie end up in a mess that puts her dreams in peril--and tests Jack's resolve to remain single.

My thoughts on Regina Jennings:

Regina Jennings is a talented writer and storyteller who finds inovative ways to intertwine her faith in the pages of her novels. She creates beloved characters that take you on their adventures and teach you something new about yourself. Regina loves to use expression, creativity and fun story lines to bring the worlds of her books to life. Some would say they can imagine being on the Fort Homestead with Lieutenant Jack Hennessey while others can see themselves being the lovely Hattie Walker in her stubborn ways living in a Teepee with the Arapaho Indians.

My thoughts on the book:

I found this book to be way more entertaining than the first book in the Fort Reno series by Regina Jennings but that could be because I have always had an interest in art along with wondering what it might be like to be on an Indian Reservation. So this book is a good mix of the two seeing as Hattie is an artist and currently is on the Reserve. Jack is determined to save Hattie from herself and Hattie is a fiesty girl who wants to show the world she can handle herself.

One of my favorite parts was when she first gets kidnapped and is refusing to eat. You find her in the TeePee with the elders of the tribe. When I was a little girl, I always thought it would be fun to go out west and spend a night in a Teepee looking out at the stars. As I get older, I am not so sure because then you are out in the elements and among the wild. I guess you can say I am not as brave as I want to say that I am. I did once pet a wild buffalo, so maybe I could be brave and try this. It would be a once in a life time experience. Buffalo Jerky is pretty good so I can see how the Indians survived.

I give this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Would you stay in a Teepee?

Isn't this cover beautiful?
