The Spice King by Elizabeth Camden

I recieved this book for free in exchange for my honest review:

My thoughts on Elizabeth Camden:

Elizabeth Camden is one of my favorite authors of all time. She writes from her knowledge as many years working as a librarian. You can tell she does her research in order to make the time periods seem real and she develops the characters so well that you feel like you know them. She writes from the heart and it shows from page one until the end of each and every book she pens.

From the back of the book:

Gray Delacroix has dedicated his life to building his very successful global spice empire, but it has come at a cost. Resolved to salvage his family before it spirals out of control, he returns to his ancestral home to save his brother and sister before it's too late.

As a junior botanist for the Smithsonian, Annabelle Larkin has been charged with the impossible task of gaining access to the notoriously private Delacroix plant collection. If she fails, she will be out of a job and the family farm in Kansas will go under. She has no idea that in gaining entrance to the Delacroix world, she will unwittingly step into a web of dangerous political intrigue far beyond her experience.

Unable to deny her attraction to the reclusive business tycoon, Annabelle will be forced to choose between her heart and loyalty to her country. Can Gray and Annabelle find a way through the storm of scandal without destroying the family Gray is fighting to save?

My thoughts on the book:

First off, I absolutely love the name Gray Delacroix. Its rings of mystery and a strong name. As soon as I read this name....I knew who should play him. I have always loved the name Annabelle, therefore, I was super excited when I read these two names. The book is full of adventure, sarcasm and intrigue from page one to the last page. I love the chemistry between Gray and Annabelle. I can't even imagine all the work that Spice Kings had to go through when trading the spices. I mean, talk about being protective of your investment. I can understand why Gray was hesitant at first. Annabelle is a spunky, sneaky woman who figures out how to spy on the Spice Trade. This had to take courage, faith and perservance.

The book is written really well and keeps your attention. I always learn something new and this time it makes me grateful for spices in today's world. You see, I love spices and I use alot when cooking meat dishes. Spices can be a way to the heart if you know how to use them correctly. The lesson I learned most in this book is to be grateful for what you do have and to have faith that things will work out.

My rating:

I give this book a 5 out of 5 for Adventure, Romance, Intrigue and learning something new.
