The Prince of Spies by Elizabeth Camden

I received this book for free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

Elizabeth Camden is a sweet soul that has a true talent for writing. She has been coming up with and creating new adventures for us, readers to join her on. One of her biggest talents is creating believable and relatable characters. She also incorporates elements of faith without it being overwhelming. Elizabeth has always done her homework and research before tackling a project.

From the Back Cover

Luke Delacroix has long had a reputation of being an impulsive adventurer, the wild son of one of Gilded Age Washington's most prominent families. In reality, he has been secretly carrying out an ambitious agenda in Congress. His current mission: to thwart the reelection of Congressman Clyde Magruder, his only real enemy in the world.

Trouble begins when Luke meets Marianne Magruder, the congressman's only daughter. Luke is fascinated by the vibrant Marianne and her daring work as a government photographer, leading them into a forbidden romance. Now they must embark on a dangerous gamble to reconcile their growing feelings with Luke's driving passion for vital reforms in Congress.

Can their newfound love survive a political firestorm, or will three generations of family rivalry drive them apart forever?
My thoughts on The Prince of Spies

I was so EXCITED to crack open this book when I got it in the mail because I wanted to see things through Luke Delacroix's eyes. I had gotten to know his brother Gray and his sister Caroline in previous books of the series. This is a very well written political series that contains intrigue, spies, spices and more. Anyways, when I started in reading this, the opening scene has to do with a dog that has fallen through the ice. I was like OH NO! I am not reading this. It took me a moment to move past this because my heart is broken or hurt when an animal is injured or in danger. I decided to take a moment to breathe and then pushed past it. I can tell you the dog is okay. The people involved are good too.
I like how Elizabeth tackled politics because I am one who stays out of it. I don't usually like to read anything to do with political but Camden writes in a way that is tolerable. Luke is a rebel of sorts who doesn't like to follow the rules like his older brother Gray. He has to do things his own way. He has one sworn enemy in town which is the congressman Clyde Magruder who is a corrupt politician. What will Luke do? Who is Marianne Magruder? She is the daughter of this horrid congressman and Luke finds himself catching feelings.....
What do you do when you have feelings for someone who belongs to a family that you can't stand? Luke finds a way to get to know the lovely Marianne despite all of the turmoil and pain. This story has one on the edge of their seat to see what will happen with all the players involved. Its a game of cat and mouse, of right and wrong. Who will win? Will Luke win the heart of the daughter? I think I will let you find out for yourself.

I give this book a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5.
