Dacey by Shanna Hatfield

I, Halita Wilson have received this book in exchange for my honest review.
From the back of the book:
Dacey: Bride of North Carolina is #12 in the unprecedented 50-book American Mail-Order Brides series.
A conniving mother, a reluctant groom and a desperate bride make for a lively adventure full of sweet romance.
Braxton Douglas spends his days managing the family’s plantation and blissfully avoiding the state of matrimony. Unbeknownst to him, his mother tires of waiting for him to choose a wife and sends for a mail-order bride. When the woman arrives, ready to wed, Braxton has his work cut out for him if he plans to remain unaffected by the lively, lovely Dacey.
Dacey Butler has nothing to lose when she agrees to travel to North Carolina to marry a stranger. Eager for an opportunity to put her past behind her and enjoy a new beginning, she embraces the adventure of traveling south to marry a man she thinks is a simple farmer. Upon her arrival in Asheville, she immediately decides Braxton Douglas has no idea of her existence, and there is nothing simple about the man.
First of all, Shanna Hattfield is an amazing writer. She has managed to keep my attention, which is a hard thing to do because I tend to get lost in my head while reading and tend to re-read the same sentence over and over again. It’s very annoying so I love when a book’s characters grab my attention and pull me.
I just happened to fall in love with the characters of Dacey Butler and Braxton Douglas because of their fun flirtation. Dacey reminds me so much of a good friend of mine that I actually recommended this book to her to read it. I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to be a mail-ordered bride especially not in today’s world where you aren’t given a chance to get to know each other.
I see some of myself in Dacey’s character or more like the way I wish I was. LOL. I wish I was a little more sassy and able to ride horses like she can. I love to look at them but I think I would be a bit intimidated.
Shanna Hattfield kept me laughing and smiling through the whole book. I would highly recommend this book to those who love mail-ordered bride series. Shanna has so much spunk and character herself so you can see her ringing through the characters a little bit. I give this book a 5 star review. It would make a lovely birthday or Christmas present. Be sure to check it out today!
Until next time,
The Traveling Gypsy
