A Love So True by Melissa Jagears

Image
I received this book for free from Bethany House Publishers for my honest review as I am part of the blogging review team. This does not influence my rating on this book at all.  From the back of the book: Evelyn Wisely has a heart for the orphans of Teaville and works at a local mansion that rescues children out of the town's red-light district and gives them a place to live. But her desire to help isn't limited to orphans. The owner of the mansion, Nicholas Lowe, is willing to help her try to get the women working in prostitution out of the district as well--if she can gain the cooperation and support of local businessmen to go against the rest of the community.  David Kingsman has recently arrived in Teaville from Kansas City to help with one of his father's companies in town. While he plans on staying only long enough to prove his business merit to his father, he's shown interest in Evelyn's work and is intrigued enough by her to lend his support to her cau...

True to You by Becky Wade

Image
I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review as part of the Bethany House Blogger program. This did not influence my rating in any way.  From the back of the book: After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now. Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.  The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a re...

Saguaro Sunset by Debra E. Marvin

Image
I received this book in exchange for an honest review and as part as being able to help Debra E. Marvin out and to drum up some interest in her books.  From the back of the book: No ice cream sandwich is as sweet as a long-delayed sunset kiss. Friday night’s first phone call was the answer to Teresa Scott’s career dreams. Before she can celebrate, a second call informs her of her sister’s accident and puts Teresa in ‘the driver’s seat’ of Frosty Fingers Food Truck during the Tucson Festival of Books. Determined to keep her sister’s business out of the red, Teresa hides the painful disappointment of giving up her dream. Fellow accountant Alan Davis sticks his do-gooder nose in, hanging around to help Teresa, the woman he’s adored since forever, not knowing the coveted board position he's just accepted is the one she had to give up.   Nice Guy Alan isn’t really Teresa’s type, but she’s won over by his humor, adorable smile, and ice cream scooping skills. As his presenc...

Moosed Opportunities by Jan Elder

Image
I received this book in exchange for my honest review from Jan Elder herself. My thoughts on Moosed Opportunities: I loved how the story continues on with the funny adventures---Mathilda, Eric and Samantha. This story reminds me that no matter the craziness we go through in life......God is still there. I am glad that I don't have a mother that is like Sam's mother especially with her match making and not wanting to believe that Eric is a good enough match for Samantha. Mathilda is still as crazy as she always was but they had such amazing adventures with the moose. I was honored to help work with Jan on this and to edit it for her. I would rate this book a five due to the funny things and living through the adventures that these characters have. I mean, almost freezing to death....Can you even imagine? Here's who I can imagine playing Sam and Eric. Samantha Eric

Hometown Hero's Redemption by Jill Kemerer

Image
I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. I was not bribed or told that I have to rate it a certain way.  From the back of the book: When he becomes guardian to his friend's troubled ten-year-old boy, firefighter Drew Gannon knows he needs help. But before he can get former social worker Lauren Pierce to agree, he's got to prove he's changed from the sports jock who gave her a hard time back in high school. Returning home, Lauren wants no part of her old profession. She only wants to forget the unspeakable tragedy she left behind. She can't take responsibility for another child. Or a reunion with Drew—no matter how generous he's become. But a desperate boy and his handsome guardian may be more than Lauren can resist… My thoughts on Jill Kemerer: Jill Kemerer is such a sweetheart of a person. She is so humble, down to earth and funny. She loves to really tell a story in her short pages of each book. Jill has a real tale...

The Chapel Car Bride by Judith Miller

Image
I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review from Bethany House Publishers as part of their review team. The rating is of my own opinion not influenced by the publishers or the author.  From the back of the book:  With her penchant for seeing the best in everyone, Hope Irvine sees a world full of good people in hard places. When her father accepts a position traveling in a chapel car as an on-the-rail missionary, she is determined to join him in his efforts and put her musical skills to good use by serving the mining families of West Virginia, saving their souls, and bettering their lives. Luke Hughes shares Hope's love of music and her love of God, but as a poor miner he knows he can offer her no future. Still, the notes she sings resonate in his heart. When she begins to travel with a young mine manager to neighboring counties, Luke can hardly suppress his jealousy. It isn't until he begins to suspect these missions of mercy might be the mine manager...
